The Simon Kidgits Club is bringing the magic of reading to life with celebrity storytellers, engaging activities and giveaways during the 2010 Book Blast! event at Ocean County Mall from 1:00 through 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 6, 2010 in Center Court.
This free, family-friendly event is designed to show children and the young at heart just what the fun of reading is all about.
The first 100 kids to arrive will receive Curious George fun packs, filled with coloring pages, a magic paint palette, stickers and a Curious George Mask. Members of the Kidgits Club will also receive a free Kidgits book. Curious George himself will be on-hand to entertain the crowd.
During the event, Universal Studios Home Entertainment will preview its March 2 release, “Curious George 2: Follow that Monkey,” an all-new animated film on DVD. And, as a special treat, a local celebrity will read aloud from select books, including a new paperback adaptation of the new movie, published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, and two books published by Simon & Schuster: “Olivia Acts Out” and “SpongeBob RoundPants.”
During Book Blast!, children and their parents are invited to donate a new or gently used book to The Children’s Branch of the Ocean County Library.
