SUMMERTIME DAY TRIPS ARE FUN FOR ALL AGES

TOMS RIVER  This summer, Ocean County College is offering exciting day trips open to all ages (children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian).  Prices include motor coach transportation, trip leader, driver’s gratuity, tours/activities as noted, and lunch or dinner as noted, unless otherwise specified.  Academy for Lifelong Learning members receive a discount (call for details).  Seating is limited.  For tickets, call Joanne Padrone at 732.255.0469.

Buses leave promptly from Parking Lot #2, OCC Main Campus, College Drive, Toms River, NJ.  Please arrive at least 15 minutes before departure time.  Return times are approximate and subject to change due to traffic and weather conditions.  Food and drink are not permitted on the bus.  A lavatory is available on all buses.

Sweet Escape in NYC: American Girl Experience & Chocolate Indulgence: Enjoy a magical experience that begins with American Girl music, games and fun on the bus ride to Manhattan.  At American Girl, there is time to eat, shop, enjoy a photo shoot with your doll, or visit the doll hair salon. Then, at the Great American Chocolate Company, located in Times Square, discover a world of sweetness.  Across the street at M&M’s World is the planet’s largest display of M&M candies, in addition to other M&M-themed fun.  Lunch: American Girl Café. Date: Sunday, July 19.  Time: 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.  Cost: $99.

NEW Cape May Surf & Turf: Board the Cape May-Lewes Ferry and enjoy a scenic cruise across the Delaware Bay, spotting lighthouses and maybe even dolphins before docking in Lewes and traveling by bus to Rehoboth for a scrumptious lunch that includes salad or bisque; several entrée choices, including crab; and dessert. Then stroll through the seaside town of Rehoboth Beach, which features a boardwalk and many quaint shops.  Lunch: Jake’s Seafood House. Date: Wednesday, July 22.  Time: 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.  Cost: $129.

NEW Bronx Tour: Enjoy a drive along Grand Concourse, pass the Edgar Allen Poe Cottage and Yankee Stadium, and travel to the Little Italy of the Bronx to purchase Italian pastries and specialties.  After a multi-course lunch, take a drive past “Woodlawn Cemetery” (final resting place for America’s rich and famous), then to Riverdale (the Gold Coast of the Bronx), pass by the Bronx Zoo and the New York Botanical Garden, and Pelham Bay Park, the largest park in NYC.  Lunch: City Island. Date: Thursday, August 6.  Time: 8:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.  Cost: $139.

NEW Amish Countryside Tour: Begin the tour in an F/X Theater to view the critically-acclaimed film Jacob’s Choice, which will facilitate a fuller understanding of the Amish lifestyle.  After a bountiful family-style lunch, view the actual home featured in the film and learn how the family lives from day to day.  Then board the bus and go deep into the countryside, visiting beautiful farmland and the oldest Amish community in the world.  A shopping stop will complete the Amish Countryside experience. Shores, Feather Ridge, and much more. Lunch: On your own at the Aquarium Café. Date: Thursday, August 20.  Time: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Cost: $109.

NEW “Mary Poppins” on Broadway: Supercalifragilistic!  Believe in the magic of “Mary Poppins” to lift your spirits to new heights!  Don’t miss out on this great opportunity to see Broadway’s perfectly magnificent musical, filled with breathtaking stagecraft.  This high-flying extravaganza will excite children and will bring out the kid in any adult!  There will be time to have lunch and sightsee before the 2:00 p.m. matinee.  Lunch: On your own before the show.
