TOMS RIVER – The summer sizzles with the sounds of hot music and cool vocals when the Ocean County College’s Arts and Community Center hosts the popular MidWeek Jazz Series.Come hearacclaimed artists play classic jazz and swing in a single 90-minute set!Shows run on Wednesdays at 8:00 p.m. on OCC’s Main Campus, College Drive, Toms River, NJ.Please use Parking Lot #2.Tickets are on sale now at the OCC Box Office.

 

July 27: Al Harrison & His Dixieland Band

A musical icon in the Philadelphia area, Harrison only crosses the Delaware on rare occasions!His veteran players, including bassist Ed Wise, capture the highly infectious spirit of the early jazz era, a branch of music being rediscovered these days by an army of young fans!

 

August 17: The Vaché Brothers Band

Cornet player Warren Vaché has a tone that is “warm and heartbreakingly lovely” and his solos are “richly detailed but never ostentatious.”Clarinetist Allan Vaché is said to be “downright blistering, as well as warm and inviting.”For this outing, they’re backed by guitarist Vinnie Carrao, drummer Kevin Dorn, and bassist Joel Forbes. The brothers live 1000 miles apart, so this is a rare opportunity to hear them play together!

 

September 14: The Jazz Lobsters Big Band

This band has been featured at JazzFest and by major presenters throughout the region.The players are masters of their instruments and their love of this style of music shows in their performances.The Jazz Lobsters Big Band features an enormous repertoire that covers the Swing Era through modern times.
